Fully embracing the participatory design approach, the SHIP project actively involved end users and stakeholders at every stage: from designing the equipment, to defining the intervention context within a green space, and finally to evaluating the prototypes developed.
The design process and the equipment were developed in collaboration with the Interdepartmental Research Center HIT – Human Inspired Technology Research Centre of the University of Padua, the furniture manufacturer MyWood Srl (both partners of the EUTEKNOS Network), and the Municipality of Padua.
The objective of the SHIP project was to develop equipment and technologies for parks through actions and practices oriented towards environmental, social, and cultural sustainability. The park is thus reinterpreted no longer as a mere aesthetic or passive recreational space, but as an active place for education, inclusion, and the promotion of citizens’ physical, mental, and social well-being.
