Proponent:
COOP.SERVICES, Lead Partner of the Regional Innovation Network EUTEKNOS – Artistic Manufacturing.
Rationale:
The production of traditional Murano glass artifacts still relies on molds into which molten glass is poured. These molds are typically made of wood, iron, or bronze. This initiative aims to leverage additive manufacturing for the creation of variable-sized molds at sustainable costs, even for small production batches.
The initiative aims to:
- Utilize additive manufacturing to produce molds of varying dimensions at affordable costs, even for limited runs.
- Upgrade workers’ skills related to digital technologies to optimize operations and provide more in-depth, accessible, sustainable, and immediately actionable project information to businesses.
Project Objectives:
Support the competitiveness of the Murano Glassmaking sector by integrating culture, tradition, and creativity with digital technologies, in line with sustainability and green transition goals.
These innovations have been developed as part of the “D3VeRo” project, with contributions from universities across the Veneto region.
Target Audience:
The primary recipients are the professionals from partner companies within the EUTEKNOS artistic manufacturing network, with particular focus on artistic glassmaking businesses in Murano and those involved in additive manufacturing.
Types of Interventions:
The training, coaching, and support activities will be tailored to the specific needs expressed by the participating companies.
Training activities (including group classroom sessions and practical workshops/project work) may cover:
- Corporate sustainability
- Energy efficiency
- 3D modeling and design tools
- Digital design
- Additive manufacturing
- Network development training
Support activities may include:
- Individual consulting for strategic innovation support
- Workshops on the use of 3D printing for creating molds for Murano artistic glass
- Action research to develop improved molds for glass production
- A research grant allocated to the Department of Industrial Engineering at the University of Padua
Additionally planned:
- Networking and coordination meetings
- Webinars on the potential of 3D printing
- Two events (an opening and a closing event)
Activities may also be delivered remotely (in synchronous mode) in accordance with regulatory guidelines.
FESR (European Regional Development Fund) costs are included, accounting for between 30% and 50% of the public contribution.
Partnership:
Each company participates as a corporate partner. Participation is formalized by completing the “Partner Data Sheet,” the “Partnership Agreement Form,” and the “Single Company Declaration / De Minimis Declaration.”
