The Veneto Region, in collaboration with the universities of Veneto, presented the new “Smart Specialisation Strategy” on Friday, July 15, at Palazzo del Bò.
This strategy is the result of a joint effort involving the region’s universities in a research and analysis process called “RIStyling,” aimed at identifying the challenges and obstacles the regional economy will face in the coming years.
The Veneto Region sought to involve various local stakeholders through the so-called “entrepreneurial discovery process.” Through the sharing of findings and the active involvement of businesses, regional Innovation Networks (including EUTEKNOS), the research community, public administration, and citizens, the region has outlined key development trajectories that will shape its future development policies.
“Veneto’s productive fabric is made up of micro-enterprises that form a unique ecosystem in Europe. Our companies have shown an extraordinary capacity to recover from crises and represent a true economic model. Despite their size, they are strongly oriented toward innovation and research, one of the region’s key strengths. In the latest assessment by the European Union, Veneto has moved from a ‘moderate innovator’ to a ‘strong innovator’—the most rewarding recognition of the progress we’ve made. Veneto is a land of great opportunity; it is attractive, and it must continue to be so. I say this especially to our youth and researchers: go out into the world, gain experience, but then come back to Veneto—a land full of valuable opportunities and great innovative potential.”
These were the words of Roberto Marcato, Regional Minister for Economic Development, Research and Innovation, and Industry, during his speech this morning at the Aula Magna of the University of Padua. The event, titled “From the RISTYLING Process to the New Smart Specialisation Strategy of the Veneto Region”, marked the official presentation of the new Smart Specialisation Strategy – S3 Veneto.
