ACADEMY OF BELLE ARTI OF VERONA

The Academy of Belle Arti of Verona, located in the heart of the city at via Carlo Montanari 5, inside the prestigious Montanari Palace, represents a unique institution in the Italian academic landscape. Founded in 1764 by the painter Giambettino Cignaroli, the Academy has undergone a significant transformation over the centuries, evolving from a small art training center for a select few into one of the leading institutions for Higher Artistic Education in Italy. Since January 1, 2023, the Academy has acquired the status of a “state” institution, marking a new phase in its history that began in 2017.

Accredited as an Institution for Higher Artistic and Musical Education (AFAM), recognized by the Ministry of University and Research, the Academy hosts approximately one thousand students and offers a wide range of study programs divided into ten specializations. The three-year courses include Sculpture, Decoration, Set Design, Painting, Design, and New Art Technologies, while the two-year advanced courses offer specialized fields such as Italian Strategic Design, Animation & Game Art, and Atelier Direction – Cultural Mediation of Art. A flagship program of the Academy is the five-year single-cycle Restoration course, with limited enrollment, offering specialized paths in stone restoration, plaster and stucco restoration, and the conservation of paintings on canvas, wood supports, and contemporary sculptures.

The Academy of Belle Arti of Verona stands out for its strong focus on research and innovation, implementing a program that combines education, experimentation, and the production of contemporary creative languages. Through collaborations with other institutions, organizations, and companies at regional, national, and international levels, the Academy fosters a dynamic and stimulating environment capable of responding to the challenges of contemporary art.
