DOLOMITI BELLUNESI NATIONAL PARK
The Dolomiti Bellunesi National Park, located in the province of Belluno in northern Veneto, was established in 1990 with the aim of protecting the natural, historical, and landscape values of the region. In 2009, the park was included in the UNESCO Dolomites site, recognized as a World Heritage site.
The park’s creation followed a process started in 1988 with clear objectives: to protect local flora, fauna, and geomorphological features; to improve the quality of life for local residents; to promote scientific research and environmental education; and to restore agro-forestry and pastoral activities.
In 1993, the park management authority was appointed. In 2008, a presidential decree redefined the park’s boundaries based on ridges, rivers, and roads, improving the precision of its delimitation and responding to local needs.
