On April 23, the ESPR regulation was approved, focusing on eco-design and aiming to standardize sustainability, reduce carbon and environmental impact throughout the product lifecycle, and ensure the free circulation of products within the single market. Initial attention is being given to furniture and mattresses as key products under the ESPR.
With the introduction of this regulation, mandatory criteria for the ecodesign of relevant products will be established over the coming years. A digital product passport will be introduced, and the implementation of environmental standards in European public procurement will be assessed.
Furniture industry companies are invited to join the free online seminar organized by FederlegnoArredo and EFIC, titled “New Rules for Ecodesign: A Revolution for Furniture.” The event will take place on Friday, May 24, 2024, at 11:00 AM, during which a practical guide to the new regulatory rules will be distributed.
